What’s the first visit like?
On your first visit, Dr. Cummings will examine your teeth, jaws, and joints to determine if an orthodontic problem exists and the extent of the problem. Treatment approaches will be discussed at that time. There is no charge for this first visit examination and discussion . Dr. Cummings is happy to answer any questions regarding your treatment.
What appliances will I be wearing?
The quality orthodontic brackets you’ll be wearing are polished to a smooth rounded surface with the smallest dimensions possible for the utmost comfort. Their side is much less noticeable, more hygienic and far more attractive today than they were in the past. We also have ceramic and gold braces, which are very popular.
If you need orthopedic (jaw) treatment, Dr. Cummings usually will select a fixed appliance to insure a positive result in the fastest time possible. We also have our own fully equipped on-site lab service and a hilly trained orthodontic technician. And, when your braces are removed you may help design the colors for your retainers.
What will I need to do during treatment?
Your concerns during treatment are important to us. Therefore, we encourage you to ask questions so that you will be able to understand and follow all of Dr. Cummings’ instructions. This will help make your treatment experience as comfortable as possible.
Can I reschedule an appointment?
We understand the necessity or rescheduling an appointment on occasion. Minimal postponements of your appointments will ensure that your orthodontic treatment will stay on track and be completed on time. For your convenience, your appointments will be confirmed the evening prior to you visit.
How does Dr. Cummings feel about oral hygiene?
Good oral hygiene is most important during orthodontic treatment. We’ll suggest the best ways to keep your teeth clean and your brackets sparkling. Sonicare and Roto-dent brushes are available.
Do I have a choice of braces and modules?
With coordinating modules now available in a rainbow of colors from sky blue to nearly invisible, today’s braces aren’t just functional. They make a fasion statement that you will love. There is a color to appeal to every family member’s individual taste.
